Luis V. McSween

Luis McSween is the Co-Founder and President of CariBeat LLC – the leading Caribbean Lifestyle Company in the US. Founded in 2007, CariBeat delivers extraordinary Caribbean-style events, destination marketing services, cultural performances, culinary-cultural tours, cuisine, décor, and apparel to audiences around the world. CariBeat is also the exclusive agent, in the US and Canada, for bp Renegades Steel Orchestra, the world’s most-awarded steel orchestra. In addition to leading strategic operations for CariBeat, Mr. McSween is a Rummelier, certified by the Royal Rum Society, and spearheads CariBeat’s Rum Experience division.

With more than 35 years of experience in the field of Airline and Airport Management, Mr. McSween is also a senior aviation executive and has served in several senior executive positions at US Airways (now merged with American Airlines) as Senior Director of Flight Operations, Senior Director of Crew Administration, and Senior Director of Crew Planning, as well as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Latin America and the Caribbean, Director of Customer Service, and Director of Crew Scheduling.

Mr. McSween spearheaded the establishment of US Airways’ service to and established the airline’s operations in several Caribbean destinations including Barbados, Jamaica (Montego Bay), Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Bahamas, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Dominican Republic, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Croix, the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, Mexico (Cancun), and Aruba. He also served as General Manager of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and established – what was at that time – the only 24-hour Customer Service and Emergency Operations Center at an airport in the Caribbean. This led to Piarco International Airport winning the Skytrax World Airport Awards “Best Airport in the Caribbean” for several years, including 2023.

Mr. McSween also serves as a Commissioner on Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s Commission on Caribbean Affairs and is deeply involved in community affairs throughout the State of Maryland and the broader DC Metropolitan Area. With a deep commitment to and passion for youth development, Mr. McSween dedicates his time and expertise to the development and implementation of Youth Development Programs. His services are regularly sought after by the Government of the District of Columbia and nonprofit organizations to teach kids, ages 6-16 years old, the practices of professional deportment, social etiquette, ethics, accountability, teamwork, and integrity. Most recently, Mr. McSween signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding with Meridian International Center for the development and implementation of the first ever – in the United States – Steelpan Cultural Exchange and Professional Development Program.
